I’m Shayla. A Canadian artist, Veterinary Technologist, lifelong creature‑feature addict, and wrangler of my own tiny Hellhound, Newt. He’s small, fluffy, and convinced he could defeat a dragon in single combat. There's no dragons in Canada, so for now he just torments the ravens on our walks.
I’ve been making art since before I was working with pets: watercolors, acrylics, murals, anything that let me immerse myself in creativity and just enjoy the process. Eventually I realized I could combine all my passions, animals, horror, art, and monster design into one glorious thing.
Now I'm so thrilled to hand‑draw digital creature portraits, transforming your beloved pets into a Hellhound. No AI. No machine sorcery. In an era where technology can instantly generate imagery with the click of a button, I believe the true soul of art remains in the human touch. Here, each portrait is a collaboration between your companion’s real presence (which you reveal to me through your input, selections and stellar reference photos) and my imagination. These are drawn with my hands, from the deliberate motion of a stylus, from the quiet hours where art becomes my own personal ritual, and filled with countless hours of learning, and practice, while pouring my delicate human heart into each piece.
When you commission a portrait from me, you aren't just getting an image, you're receiving a piece of my original art born from years of devotion to learning, traditional skill, and a deep love for animals and all things spooky.
